You control the finances, internal affairs and security of your country and enact legislation. The electorate in the game are well-informed, rational and always turn up to cast their vote. You have to deal with lots of policies, events and policy dilemmas, plus voters holding grudges and even voter cynicism and anger. Like other text bases games (Baseball Mogul, Kudos) Democracy is not big on graphics. It doesn’t have to be. It’s a highly advanced political simulation game.
